National Honor Society

 

Fifteen Western Center Academy (WCA) high school students were inducted into the WCA chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) at a ceremony held on April 18, 2016 in the Metropolitan Water District Museum.  The National Honor Society is a nationwide organization that recognizes high school students who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Officiating at this year’s induction, were chapter sponsors Principal Paul Bailey and NHS Advisor Kimberley Kemmis.    

Membership into the National Honor Society is limited to students in sophomore, junior, and senior classes. At Western Center Academy, students must have at least a 3.5 unweighted grade point average and have demonstrated leadership on and off campus through volunteer work and exemplary character. 

The new members are Christina Agu, Joshua Beal, Kaitlyn Chadwick, Noah Delano, Sabrina Gobran, Savannah Jackson, Emily Johnson, Danielle Jourdin, Charles Ludlow, Andrea Mares, Allyson Nicholas, Ariana Pefley, Christopher Polvoorde, Charlie Prather, and Zachary Showalter. 

The objectives of National Honor Society are to promote and to recognize superior scholarship and those elements of character which make scholarship? effective for service. The society, founded in 1922, has more than 300 chapters. Membership into this elite society is the highest academic honor on campus.
