Pension reform (AB340) prohibits employers from paying member contributions for new CalPERS members.  New CalPERS members must pay their own contributions.  Effective 1/1/13, new employees of the district without prior CalPERS membership will be considered a new member of CalPERS and placed on the Without District Paid PERS Salary Schedule.  CalPERS members (with service prior to 1/1/13) can determine their retirement status by contacting CalPERS directly at (888) CalPERS (225-7377).
