Safe & Healthy Kids

The Hemet Unified School District provides a comprehensive array of programs and services for students to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent drug, alcohol, and tobacco abuse and violence. General health education curriculum is provided through the regular instructional program. Additional evidence-based programs are provided in specific classes using research-validated materials. Intervention services are also provided to students who need more support in dealing with substance, discipline, mental health or other social support issues. Please contact the school principal about services provided at different grade levels and for specific issues.

 

Overall, the district's School Climate Transformation Initiative, school counseling program, district mental health program and Student Support Services team provide a range of both prevention and intervention services for students and their families.

 

 

 

Enacted on January 1, 2016, AB-329 integrates the instruction of comprehensive sexual health education and HIV prevention education. The bill requires school districts to ensure that all pupils in grades seven to twelve, inclusive, receive comprehensive sexual health education and HIV prevention education.
