WCA Black History Month Essay Winners

The Human Relations Council of Hemet/San Jacinto invited local middle school and high school students to participate in a Black History Month Writing Contest. Two Western Center Academy students, Gabriella Mares-Galletta and Aileen Luke, were declared winners on February 27th at Mt. San Jacinto College.

“Rebecca Davis got accepted to New England Female Medical College and made history in 1860 by being the first Black woman to study there. Becky never ceases to impress me. She has worked hard to turn a far off dream into a reality.” ---Aileen Luke
