Weeklong Birthday Celebration for Dr. Suess

Every year elementary schools participate in Reading Across America Week, celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Local high schools sent students to elementary schools to share their love of reading. An example is Hemet High School sent cheerleaders to read Dr. Seuss stories to Little Lake Elementary students. Little Lake second-grade teacher Mrs. Nancy Excell said, "Students were excited to interact with the "big" kids!" Reading Across America is celebrated all week by reading Dr. Seuss books and by having spirit days like crazy sock day, wear green day, or wacky hair day. On Friday the schools culminated the week of celebration by inviting district office officials, school board members, community leaders, and high school role models to share their passion and excitement for reading.
