CTE Students Teach Tech Skills to Elderly Residents

Career Technical Education (CTE) students enrolled in Entrepreneurship at Tahquitz High School recently provided a Tech Workshop at The Village Retirement Community. During the workshop, students worked one-on-one with elderly residents to help set up laptops, manage cell phones, install apps, check voicemail, set up email, and take screenshots. This cross-generational interaction proved to be valuable as residents expressed how professional and helpful the students were and students expressed that they enjoyed spending time with the residents and hearing their stories. Several students even asked about volunteering at the assisted living home on a regular basis. The popularity of the event within the retirement community has already led to conversations about ways to replicate the activity and even involve more students.
