HUSD Celebrates this year's Employees of the Year & Retirees

On Wednesday, May 10, Hemet Unified School District leaders and employees from across the district gathered to honor the exceptional achievements of employees recognized as 2023 Employees of the Year. This event also served as a farewell to retiring and beloved colleagues who have dedicated their lives to education. The event, held at Soboba Event Center, celebrated excellence, gratitude, and the enduring legacy of the district's educators.

The evening began with a buzz of excitement and anticipation as over 100 honorees and their guests arrived dressed in their finest attire. They were welcomed with a grand red carpet entrance and celebratory cheers from their colleagues and friends. The event center was transformed into a space of celebration that included pre-event activities such as a 360° photo booth, caricature artists, other commemorative photo opportunities, and beautiful décor.

Amidst an atmosphere of camaraderie and unity, the event kicked off with comments from CSEA and HTA leaders and a warm welcome from Superintendent Dr. Barrett. She shared, “As Superintendent, it is a pleasure to honor and recognize the outstanding contributions of our employees and retirees. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for the incredible work you have done to help our students succeed. Your dedication, commitment, and passion for the work we do as educators is truly inspiring, and I am honored to work alongside such talented individuals.”

Honorees then enjoyed a delicious dinner while retirees were honored first. The room was filled with applause and admiration as each name was read. Next, Employees of the Year were recognized. District leaders read heartfelt stories and anecdotes, underscoring each Employee of the Year's remarkable impact on the lives of colleagues, students, their school, and the broader educational community. The event banquet resounded with laughter, applause, and nostalgia as cherished memories were revisited and accomplishments were celebrated.

As the event drew to a close, attendees departed with a sense of pride, gratitude, and optimism, and some, with a few gifts, won throughout the night. One lucky employee also walked away, winning a dinner cruise in San Diego!

The Employees of the Year and Retiree Event left an indelible mark, reinforcing the importance of recognizing and appreciating the exceptional individuals who have dedicated their careers to shaping future generations. It further served as a powerful reminder that education is not just a profession but a lifelong commitment to embracing, educating and empowering every student, every day.

HUSD is proud to celebrate its outstanding employees, past and present, and remains committed to fostering a community that values and supports the transformative power of education.

Congratulations to all our 2023 Honorees!
