This fall, Hemet Unified School District is proud to have students participate in the 2024 Mayor Mentee Program, a partnership with the City of Hemet that is actively engaging high school students in local government. This initiative, led by the Hemet City Council, offers students a unique opportunity to learn about public service by working directly with city leaders.
Since its launch, the program has been a powerful platform for students to explore careers in municipal government. Participants attend meetings and events, gaining hands-on experience in policy-making and civic engagement. The program’s requirements, including maintaining a GPA of 2.7 or higher and adhering to professional dress codes, prepare students for future professional roles.
The Mayor Mentee Program also emphasizes community involvement, encouraging students to contribute to the decision-making processes that shape their city. This year, twelve students from HUSD will participate in the program with additional opportunities this Spring.
