Student of the Year Scholarship Winners

Monthly breakfasts were held at The Anchor Restaurant in Hemet from September 2014 to March 2015 to reward and inspire academic excellence in our community through Hemet USD and San Jacinto USD high school seniors.  A total 49 students were recognized at these monthly breakfasts, and all were encouraged to compete for the end of the year Scholarships. 

On Thursday, May 14th, students, parents and guests, nominating teachers, High School Principals, Hemet and San Jacinto USD Superintendents, Student of the Month Committee members, sponsors, and dignitaries enjoyed a delicious dinner and program at the Country Club at Soboba Springs.  Special music was provided by the West Valley High School Jazz Band.  

The following students were announced as Student of the Year Scholarship Winners, and each received $1,800 towards their college education:

From Hemet USD ~

Hamilton HS:  Joseph Miranda

Hemet HS:  Danielle Simmons

Tahquitz HS:  Michael Lenihan

West Valley HS:  Jose Leyva (unable to attend due to an AVID banquet on the same night)

From San Jacinto USD ~

San Jacinto HS:  Dexie Magtulis

Mountain View HS /Mountain Heights Academy:  Genesis Galvan

All other students in attendance received a $50 gift card to Wal-Mart. 

The mission of the program is to bring the community together to honor and recognize our valley high school seniors for demonstrating character, integrity, a love of learning, involvement in school activities, athletics, and community service, or the ability to overcome challenging life circumstances without compromising their education.  The “heartbeat” of the “Student of the Month” is one who makes a difference in their home, school and community.
