Tahquitz Homecoming Festivities

Tahquitz High School had its Homecoming Game on Friday, September 23, 2016. For the entire week leading up to the game, students were encouraged to participate in Spirit Week activities. Each day students were asked to dress up with the theme of “A Toontastic Homecoming.”

The Titans hosted the Canyon Springs Cougars for their homecoming football game. The Titans were able to hold the lead throughout the entire game, and end it with 36-12 win. Mike Sims, Athletic Director, said, “Our football team made us proud with their Homecoming win over Canyon Springs.” He continued to say that the team played with passion, and their preparation and hard work paid off.

During the halftime show, the Tahquitz Titan desperately needed to find the queen’s crown which was stolen from the SpongeBob SquarePants’ villain, Plankton. With help from various characters, he was able to track down Plankton and the crown. Plankton apologized to Mr. Titan, and gave the crown back just in time for senior CeCe Jones to be crowned Queen.

The following night, over 380 students attended “A Toontastic Homecoming” dance. The student body chose CeCe Jones as the Queen and Jose Gama as their King. Students had a wonderful time and staff received a lot of positive feedback about all of the homecoming festivities.
