Valle Vista Elementary's New Principal

Christine Ramirez, former Assistant Principal of Ramona Elementary, was promoted to Principal at Valle Vista Elementary School.

Dr. Ramirez is beginning her 15th year in education. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Human Development and Masters in Education and Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. She also attended Argosy University to receive her Doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Dr. Ramirez said she had a wonderful experience in school. She was able to succeed in academics and extracurricular activities, but admitted the activities was the reason she came to school. She is able to look back on her educational career with fond memories and hopes she can duplicate that for the students at Valle Vista.

This year Valle Vista is introducing new programs and initiatives to help students get involved. This year Dr. Ramirez is bringing the 100 Mile Club to students and staff. Everyone is pledging to run or walk 100 miles by the end of the school year. Ramirez said this is the fourth school she has brought the club to. After implementing the 100 Mile Club, she has seen student’s attendance go up, student’s behavior improve, and the overall culture of the school increase.

Ramirez said this year, staff will put a bigger emphasis on guided reading. Teachers will work with students to not only improve their reading skills, but ensure they are better equipped for future learning.

Ramirez said she is grateful for the opportunity to become Principal of Valle Vista. She said staff and students have been very welcoming and she is happy to help build upon the wonderful community atmosphere. She wants to continue the pride students and staff have for their school. “I’m here to support students and ensure they are successful in their future endeavors.”
