The Governing Board of the Hemet Unified School District, on nomination by Trustee Joe Wojcik, has selected Alexandrea Cass, Public Information Officer, as the January recipient of the Governing Board Recognition and Award.
Ms. Cass received her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Arizona State University. Prior to coming to Hemet Unified as the Public Information Officer in August 2015, Ms. Cass served as a Production Assistant, Social Media Specialist and Acting Executive Producer.
Alex works closely with site administration to cover events throughout the district. She keeps staff, parents and the community informed of current and upcoming events through our District website, Facebook, Parentlink and HUSD’s mobile app, which she launched in September 2015. Ms. Cass publishes the HUSD monthly newsletter Chalk Talk.
In the fall of this year, Alex was moved by a Student of the Month recipient’s story. As a result, Alex asked the student if there was anything she could do to help her. The student stated the only thing she and her sisters needed was food. Alex sought out donations from fellow staff members and the community. She collection over $800 in donations and purchased a Stater Bros. gift card that she presented to the student and her three sisters.
For outstanding performance, professionalism and loyalty to the Hemet Unified School District, Trustee Joe Wojcik presented Alexandrea Cass with the Governing Board Recognition of Excellence Award and a $500 certificate to be used toward the District program of her choice.
