Governing Board Recognition of Excellence Award

The Governing Board of the Hemet Unified School District, on nomination by Trustee Ross Valenzuela, has selected Dagmar Rea, District Librarian, as the April recipient of the Governing Board Recognition and Award.

Ms. Dagmar Rea attended the University of Wyoming where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education and her Master’s Degree in Library Science.  Ms. Rea came to Hemet Unified in 1998 as the Librarian at Hemet High School

Dagmar coordinates and supports all library programs by planning instruction for students who engage our libraries in both the paper and digital medium.  In addition, Dagmar assists with selection of books and other materials for the library collections that support and complement instruction in our classrooms. Recently, Dagmar complemented the vital work in the area of STEAM instruction by supporting the introduction of “Makerspace” areas in our libraries.

Since she became the District Librarian in 2011, Dagmar has been an invaluable asset to the libraries and library technicians.  She conducts quarterly meetings with library techs to update them on software updates, new products (library books, eBooks, digital resources, textbooks) and collaborates with them on how to incorporate any new technology into the libraries to support students with 21st Century Skills. In supporting the important work of our site staff, Dagmar increases the collective capacity of the site to engage our students in learning as well as support our teachers in delivering first, best instruction.

For outstanding performance, professionalism and loyalty to the Hemet Unified School District, Trustee Ross Valenzuela presented Dagmar Rea with the Governing Board Recognition of Excellence Award and a $500 certificate to be used toward the District program of her choice.
