National Safe Schools Week!

October 17, 2022

Dear HUSD Students and Families,

We are pleased to announce that October 16-22 is National Safe Schools Week! National Safe Schools week is an important time for all of us to reflect on our schools, and on the safety of our students.

As a school district, we are prioritizing the safety of our staff and students. We are grateful for the tremendous support we have through our families, staff, and community. As we continue to evaluate our systems, we want to take this opportunity to make you aware of some resources so that you can help support our schools in being safe. Please see the bulleted list below.

  • Report safety concerns through Sprigeo - This platform allows you to report safety concerns anonymously. We’ve posted banners on all of our school sites to encourage parents and students to report safety concerns through Sprigeo. Report a safety concern
  • Learn about Linewize - Linewize is a leading provider of online student safety technology and the most advanced student threat detection tool in K-12. As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring students’ safety, mental health, and well-being, HUSD is proud to announce we’ve partnered with Linewize. Learn more about Linewize
  • Learn about substance abuse and prevention - Student drug use and the increase in fentanyl cases have become a growing concern. Learn about the complex and changing nature of the drug overdose epidemic through prevention and research activities. Visit the California Department of Public Health
  • Talk with your child about the consequences of unsafe activities - We know that the majority of our students are making great choices each day. In an effort to maintain a safe learning environment on campus, it is important to know that students who engage in unsafe behaviors, including threats and acts of violence, will be subject to disciplinary action. Learn more about disciplinary action here

Thank you for your continued partnership in making sure our schools are a safe place for everyone!

Sincerely,

Hemet Unified
