Hemet Adult School Celebrates Adult Education Family Literacy Week with a Fun-Filled Family Game Night

September 21, 2023 - In celebration of Adult Education Family Literacy Week, Hemet Unified School District’s adult school, Hemet Adult School, hosted a heartwarming and educational Family Game Night on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. The event was hosted in partnership with the HUSD Wellness and Community Outreach Center at Hemet Adult School, and brought together families from the community to emphasize the importance of literacy and family engagement in education.

The theme of the evening was “Fun with Literacy” and it lived up to its name. Over 100 enthusiastic attendees of all ages joined in on the festivities. Families immersed themselves in interactive booths that encouraged creativity and learning while having a great time together. From board games to interactive lawn games, the activities were designed to promote literacy skills while fostering a love for reading and learning. To further promote literacy, every attendee had the pleasure of receiving a free book.

The idea behind this wonderful event was that the education of adults can have a positive effect on students' literacy rates. When adults are equipped with stronger literacy skills, they become valuable role models and support systems for children in their households.

Hemet Unified School District takes pride in its thriving adult school. Hemet Adult School offers a diverse range of courses catering to the needs and aspirations of adult learners in the community. From High School Diploma and High School Equivalency  programs to Computer Skills, English as a Second Language (ESL), Citizenship, Child Development, Welding, and so much more, Hemet Adult School is a beacon of opportunity for those seeking to further their education and career prospects.

Adult schools like Hemet Adult School are an integral part of California’s educational landscape, contributing significantly to the state’s commitment to lifelong learning and skills development. They play a crucial role in empowering adults to acquire new knowledge and skills, ultimately enhancing their quality of life and contributing to the overall economic and social well-being of the community.

In the spirit of Adult Education Family Literacy Week, Hemet Unified School District reaffirms its commitment to promoting literacy and education as cornerstones of thriving communities.
