Assistant Superintendent of H.R., Dr. Derek Jindra receives prestigious ACSA Negotiator of the Year Award

Hemet, CA - January 19, 2024 - It is with great pride that we congratulate our esteemed Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Dr. Derek Jindra, on being honored with the prestigious Negotiator of the Year Award from the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA). Dr. Jindra was recognized during the Negotiator’s Symposium Event on January 18, 2024 in San Diego, CA. ACSA is the largest organization for school leaders in the United States, serving more than17,000 California educators. ACSA prioritizes advocating for public school students in K-12, as well as adult learners and serves administrators in 19 regions throughout California, each made up of local charters.


This recognition is a testament to his professionalism and unwavering commitment to ensuring positive outcomes for staff, students and families. Dr. Jindra has consistently demonstrated unparalleled expertise in navigating complex negotiations with grace, strategic acumen, and a keen understanding of the dynamics involved. This well-deserved award not only acknowledges his outstanding accomplishments but also underscores the invaluable contributions he has made to our organization over the span of his many years at HUSD leading the discussions that communicate the district’s commitment to valuing and fairly compensating all educators.

Dr. Jindra’s outstanding personal qualities and unwavering commitment to the achievement of students in the Hemet Unified School District (HUSD) are evident throughout his remarkable 26-year tenure with the district. As a lifelong resident of the community and a proud graduate of West Valley High School, his deep-rooted connection to Hemet reflects his genuine dedication to serving families and understanding the unique challenges students face. His personal mission is centered on creating systems of support that ensure equity, particularly for those who have historically been kept farthest from opportunities.
