Hemet, CA - September 26, 2025: Hemet Unified School District (HUSD) is proud to announce the appointment of Kristen Anderson as the new Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. A dedicated instructional leader with nearly two decades of service in HUSD, Kristen brings a proven record of advancing student achievement, strengthening instructional practices, and fostering collaborative school cultures. 

Kristen began her career in Hemet USD in 2005 as a teacher at Ramona Elementary and Diamond Valley Middle School. She later served as an instructional coach, Assistant Principal at Cawston Elementary, and Principal of Dartmouth Middle School before moving into district leadership as Director of Literacy and Intervention and Director of Instructional Development.

In her leadership roles, Kristen has spearheaded districtwide initiatives in literacy, instructional coaching, and continuous improvement. Under her guidance, HUSD has seen student literacy proficiency double, earned a California School Boards Association (CSBA) Golden Bell Award, and received recognition from the U.S. Department of Education for innovative practices. 

“Kristen has a deep understanding of HUSD’s culture, values, and commitment to student success,” said Dr. Christi Barrett, Superintendent of Hemet Unified School District. “Her experience, vision and passion for student learning will continue to elevate our instructional programs and strengthen outcomes for all students.”

Kristen is passionate about building teacher and student capacity through classroom improvement cycles and meaningful feedback. She believes strongly in fostering both engagement and achievement, and in creating systems where educators and students can thrive. 

“I am honored to serve as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services in the district I have called home for my entire career,” said Anderson. “I look forward to working collaboratively with our teachers, administrators, families, and community to ensure every student is supported, challenged, and prepared to reach their full potential.”  

Kristen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a concentration in English Literature from California Baptist University and a Master’s Degree in Teaching with a specialization in Educational Technology from National University. She also holds a Clear Administrative Services Credential. 

With her extensive experience and dedication to student learning, Kristen is well-positioned to lead HUSD in advancing instructional excellence for all students.
