TG Turkey Giveaway

Hemet Unified School District once again celebrated the spirit of giving this Thanksgiving season through its annual partnership with the Soboba Foundation, whose generosity made the distribution of 1,000 turkeys possible. The event took place on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the HUSD District Office, where families had the opportunity to pick up a turkey to prepare their own Thanksgiving meal at home.

This annual giveaway, made possible through the Soboba’s Foundation continued support, reflected the strong partnership and shared commitment to serving the Hemet community. The event’s success was made possible through the time and effort of dedicated HUSD staff and community volunteers, whose teamwork ensured a smooth and efficient distribution.

In addition to Soboba’s generous contribution, the Elks Lodge of Hemet extended the holiday spirit by assisting several unsheltered families who may not have had the ability to cook a turkey. Their support came in the form of restaurant gift cards or access to pre-cooked meals, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

Miriam Ortiz, Coordinator of School, Family and Community Partnerships expressed gratitude for the collaboration saying, “The Soboba Foundation’s unwavering generosity and the compassion of our community volunteers remind us what Thanksgiving is truly about - coming together to uplift one another. We are thankful for our partners and staff who help make this tradition possible.”

HUSD’s annual Thanksgiving Giveaway reflects the district’s mission to Embrace, Educate and Empower, Every Student, Every Day by ensuring that families feel supported, valued, and connected during the holiday season.
