STW acacia idyllwild

Hemet Unified School District is proud to recognize Acacia Middle School and Idyllwild School as recipients of the prestigious California Schools to Watch (STW) designation—an honor that identifies exemplary middle schools demonstrating academic excellence, equity, innovation, and a deep commitment to the whole child.

Being named a School to Watch signifies that a school serves as a statewide model for effectively supporting early adolescents through strong instructional practices, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and collaborative leadership. This distinction is earned through a comprehensive application process and an extensive site visit and must be reaffirmed every three years, reflecting a sustained commitment to continuous improvement.

Acacia Middle School earned this recognition through several years of intentional improvement work focused on strengthening instruction, building systems of student support, and fostering a positive, inclusive school culture. The school’s efforts ensure students are supported academically, socially, emotionally, and physically, while promoting a learning environment where all students are empowered to thrive. This designation celebrates the collective dedication of Acacia’s staff, students, and families to ongoing growth and high performance.

Idyllwild School was also recognized for its strong middle grades program that prioritizes student-centered learning, meaningful relationships, and a supportive school culture. Through thoughtful instructional practices, responsive support, and a close-knit community approach, Idyllwild School exemplifies the principles of the Schools to Watch framework, ensuring students are challenged, supported, and prepared for future success.

Hemet Unified School District congratulates both Acacia Middle School and Idyllwild School on this outstanding achievement. This recognition reflects the hard work, collaboration, and shared commitment of educators, staff, students, and families to creating exceptional learning environments for all students.
