Pleasant Valley Ribbon Cutting

HEMET - Hemet Unified School District celebrated the opening of Pleasant Valley Elementary School with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, September 21, 2026, bringing together students, families, staff, community members, educational partners, local dignitaries, and those who helped transform the vision for Pleasant Valley into a reality.

Members of the Hemet Unified School District Board of Trustees and Executive Cabinet joined Pleasant Valley Elementary Principal Tiffany Grant and Superintendent Dr. Christi Barrett for the celebration, which marked an important milestone for the District and the growing Winchester community.

The event highlighted the students and school community that now call Pleasant Valley home. Guests enjoyed performances by Pleasant Valley’s second and third grade students as well as fourth and fifth grade students who each performed musical selections during the ceremony. Tahquitz High School’s Folklorico dancers also joined the celebration with a special performance. Following the ceremony, students led guests on tours that provided an opportunity to explore the new campus and see its learning spaces firsthand.

The celebration was attended by members of the HUSD Board of Trustees and Executive Cabinet, Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington, Jacinto Delgado, representing the Office of Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez, and Bruce Dennis from the Riverside County Office of Education. Representatives from Ruhnau Clarke Architects, Erickson-Hall Construction Co., Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District, Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD), and the Division of the State Architect (DSA) also joined the celebration, recognizing the collaborative effort that went into the planning, design, construction, and completion of Pleasant Valley Elementary and its importance to the families and community it now serves.

Pleasant Valley Elementary opened its doors to students at the start of the 2026–2027 school year, welcoming nearly 400 students to the new campus. As the surrounding community continues to develop and new homes are built, Pleasant Valley Elementary is expected to welcome additional students and families in the years ahead.

Designed to support  both current students and the continued growth of the surrounding community, the 11.11-acre campus features more than 71,600 square feet of learning space, including 35 classrooms, two additional classrooms dedicated to reading intervention, and nine Title 5-compliant transitional kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms. The school has the capacity to serve up to 900 TK–5 students.

Beyond the traditional classroom, students have access to a library with a dedicated reading nook and adjacent Studio featuring a podcast room and green screen, an art lab with an outdoor work area, and a multipurpose room complete with a stage and theatrical lighting.

“Pleasant Valley Elementary reflects our daily commitment to disrupt the status quo and elevate learning environments across our entire district. By integrating the arts into everyday instruction, we are creating a dynamic space where every child is inspired to create, grow, and thrive.” – Superintendent Dr. Christi Barrett

“It has been incredibly special to watch Pleasant Valley come to life and to see our students and families begin making this school their own,” said Pleasant Valley Elementary Principal Tiffany Grant. “We are building more than a school—we are building a community where every student feels welcomed, supported, and excited to learn. I am so grateful to our staff, families, and everyone who helped make Pleasant Valley a reality, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish together.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated not only the completion of Pleasant Valley Elementary, but also the collective effort that brought the school to life and the students and families it will serve for generations to come.

Hemet Unified School District extends its appreciation to everyone whose contributions and support helped bring Pleasant Valley Elementary to our community and to those who joined the District in celebrating this exciting milestone.
