Cottonwood's Kindergarteners did a lesson on Creativity. Creativity is using your imagination to create something new or solve a problem. Inspired by the text, Not A Box, our scholars transformed boxes into tools that they can use to calm down their big feelings. Our kinders came up with some great ideas. At Saturday School our Cougars completed several spring crafts, decorated sugar cookies, and participated in an egg hunt. It was a wonderful day. Shout out to the 8th Graders who came to help hide the eggs! It made the morning extra special. #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

Cottonwood's Girls Softball Team has two away games this week. Our softball team will play at Noli on Tuesday, March 24th at 3:15 p.m. and they will travel to ICHS on Wednesday, March 25th at 3:15 p.m. We are sending our good vibes along with you as you travel. Cottonwood School is proud to recognize Site Facilitator Candice Allen as an Employee of Excellence!

Candice Allen exemplifies excellence in her role as Site Facilitator for our after-school program. Through her initiative and leadership, the program has expanded significantly with the addition of engaging Teacher-Led Clubs and a thriving Middle School Sports program. She has created meaningful opportunities for students to connect, participate, and grow beyond the school day.

In addition, Candice coordinates our Attendance Recovery program with exceptional organization and follow-through. Through her dedication and careful management, she has helped recover over 636 days of student attendance, directly supporting student success and school accountability.

Candice’s commitment to students, collaboration with staff, and ability to build programs that benefit the Cottonwood School Community make her truly deserving of the Employee of Excellence Award!

Cottonwood was fortunate to have the Arts Integration Team on campus leading our scholars through a variety of art forms. Our students were acting, dancing, crafting, moving, and singing. It was a magical couple of days. We can't wait until you come again! #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

Here is a quick look at the week ahead. Our Boys Soccer Team has two away games this week, one on Tuesday and the other on Thursday. Tuesday is St. Patrick's Day and our Cougars are encouraged to wear GREEN. There is a Community School Meeting on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. All are welcome. CTE has a field trip on Friday to Comic Con and the Aerospace Museum. We have Saturday School on Saturday from 8:00-12:00 p.m. #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

Cottonwood's Boys Soccer Team will be on the road this week kicking off their competitive season. Our Cougars will be traveling to Perris to play against Innovations Horizon Charter on Tuesday afternoon and they will be heading to Hemet to play against Hemet Dual Language Academy on Thursday afternoon on the Hemet High School field. Our next Saturday School will be taking place on Saturday, March 21st, from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. This is a fun way to earn back a day of attendance credit. Students who attend will have the opportunity to participate in an egg hunt, visit with a fuzzy bunny, and make spring crafts. Please register by March 16th so that we can order your child a breakfast and lunch. See you there! #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

Elementary Basketball is starting up soon through ELOP. If your 3rd-5th Grader is interested in playing on the competitive team, tryouts are next week, please contact ELOP if your child is interested in participating. The recreational and competitive team practices start on March 24th. Please note, elementary basketball is open to both boys and girls. Hemet Unified School District’s Nutrition Services team is working to ensure more students start their day fueled and ready to learn.
