Tahquitz Cheer Kindness Event

Tahquitz High School’s Cheer Team hosted its annual Cheer Showcase with a fun and caring, twist. This year, in addition, to cheer teams performing a pep rally, halftime, or competition routine, these student-athletes created posters about community service projects they performed. This new addition was to support the Riverside County Office of Education’s Kindness Campaign initiative.

Cheer teams from Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles County all gathered in the Tahquitz gymnasium to participate in the event. Dr. Judy White, Riverside County Office of Education Superintendent of Schools, spoke to the students about the importance of community service and giving back. She encouraged the audience to be leaders not only on their cheer team but at school and in the community as well.

Male Cheer Captian, Cameron Canada, said Dr. White inspired him with her speech. He said the topic of kindness was timely and that although it may be hard to be kind if you are having a hard day, it is still important.

The school’s kindness projects ranged from putting together bags for the needy to writing inspirational quotes on Starbucks hot coffee holders, and many others!

Female Cheer Captain, Delilah Del Valle, is a senior this year and has enjoyed watching the event grow every year. She said they knew some of the teams that attended, but the event gave them the opportunity to interact with people outside of the Hemet Valley.

Great job to our Tahquitz Titans cheerleaders for this wonderful event and for helping out in the community on a regular basis!
