Ms. Kelly Sullivan Named 2023 State Educator of the Year for the CA League of Educators

HUSD is proud to announce that Ms. Kelly Sullivan, AVID teacher at Rancho Viejo Middle School, was named the 2023 State Educator of the Year for the California League of Educators (CLE)! The CLE Educator of the Year award is given annually to California educators who exemplify educational excellence.

Ms. Sullivan was also recognized in December 2022 at the CLE Middle-Level Educator of the Year Celebration, where nine other educators won the recognition for Region 10. However, only one winner from each region is honored as the CLE State Educator of the Year. CLE is comprised of 12 regions. Region 10 includes school districts from San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo and Mono Counties; making this recognition for Ms. Sullivan all the more impressive.

"Celebrating the success of our teachers is one of the greatest joys of being a principal,” stated William Prudhomme, Principal of Rancho Viejo Middle School. “Ms. Sullivan is an exceptional educator who embodies the very best of our profession. Her dedication, passion, and hard work have inspired countless students to achieve their full potential, and we are so fortunate to have her as a member of our team.”

Visitors to Ms. Sullivan’s classroom can attest to how she expertly balances humor with a profound concern for her students. She takes the time to listen to students, guide them, and provide corrections where necessary, ensuring that each student receives the care and support they need to succeed.

The HUSD community takes pride in having dedicated educators such as Ms. Sullivan, who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to excellence in their daily work while serving HUSD students and their families. Ms. Sullivan and educators like her continue to play a crucial role in helping HUSD fulfill its mission to Embrace, Educate, and Empower every student, every day.
