Principal for a Day 2024

HUSD hosted 48 community members who took part in this year's event consisting of a presentation provided by Superintendent Dr. Christi Barrett and other members of the executive cabinet, followed by school site tours.

Community members were provided with a VIP experience at sites in Hemet, Idyllwild, and Anza ranging from exciting pep rallies to detailed walk-throughs of unique school programs. Many of the Principals for a Day took interest in the different educational programs offered including: career technical education pathways, visual and performing arts courses, athletics opportunities, dual language classes, and other options.

The numerous partnerships with businesses, community organizations, and other educational entities enable a wide range of programs within HUSD, that cater to individuals from children to adults. Principal for a Day provides an ideal opportunity to demonstrate the growth that has taken place at all levels of HUSD and specifically how resources are used to provide more enriching opportunities for students and greater support for families.

Hemet Unified School District would like to recognize the Principals for a Day from the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, Supervisor Chuck Washington and Supervisors Yxstian Gutierrez, the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Edwin Gomez; HUSD would like to thank representatives from the City of Hemet who attended, including: Mayor Joe Males, Mayor Pro-Tem Jackie Peterson, City Council Member Malcolm Lilienthal, City Council Member Carole Kendrick, City Council Member Linda Krupa, City Manager Mark Prestwich, and also Hemet Police Department’s Chief Michael Arellano.
