Students from Japan Visited Dartmouth Middle School

Dartmouth Middle School (MS) students were taught first-hand about Japanese culture. Eight
students from our sister city Marumori, Japan spent a week with their host, the Dartmouth MS
family.

From March 21-25, student-visitors attended classes, toured the city, went to Knott’s Berry
Farm, and enjoyed the different varieties of food we have to offer. At the end of the week, the
Japanese students made a presentation to Dartmouth students. They spoke about games they
routinely played, sumo wrestling, and taught students origami.

After the students and their chaperones left Hemet, they traveled to Universal Studios and the
Grand Canyon. It was a culturally informative week for all students. While the visit seemed
short, lasting friendships were created. It’s always enjoyable when students from Japan visit. It
provides students, staff, and families with a memorable cross-cultural experience.

Thank you to the chaperones and the students for choosing to visit Dartmouth Middle School
once again!
