TRANSFER REQUESTS

The Governing Board desires to provide enrollment options that meet the diverse needs and interests of district students, parents and guardians while also balancing enrollment in order to maximize the efficient use of district facilities.

There are two processes by which a parent may request approval to attend a school other than their neighborhood school:
  • InterDistrict Transfers
  • IntraDistrict Transfers

All Transfer Requests are subject to space availability at the school, grade, and /or program requested, depending on the time of submission. They are NOT guaranteed. Please plan to attend your your school of residence unless you are notified that your transfer is approved.

Hemet USD Board Policy requires transfer students to maintain 90% attendance and good behavior (no out of school suspensions).

If your child already attends the requested transfer school, he or she may continue to attend there until a grade span change (grades 5 and /or 8) unless you received a letter stating otherwise.
InterDistrict Transfer Requests

An InterDistrict transfer allows your child to attend a school outside of your school district of residence.

You must complete a form to be released from your district of residence to begin the process. All InterDistrict transfers require for a proof of reason to be provided when submitting this request.

Once HUSD or your district approves the release, the receiving district will consider your request.

The length of approvals are based on the InterDistrict agreements adopted by both governing boards and may last through grade span changes when your child will enter a new school (middle school or high school)

After January 15, your transfer may not be reviewed until a minimum of 10 days after school starts and approved or denied based on space available however, you will NOT be placed on a waiting list.

Approved transfers can be revoked due to chronic non-attendance (>10% of school days), truancies (>30 minutes tardy or early release), or disciplinary issues.

To submit appeals for InterDistrict transfers, you must submit an appeal form to the Enrollment Center. If your appeal is denied, you may submit an appeal to the county by visiting the Riverside County Office of Education website at: www.rcoe.us

Requests submitted after January 15 may not be considered until a minimum of 10 days after school begins and class loads are determined.
IntraDistrict Transfer Requests

An IntraDistrict transfer allows your child to attend a school other than your neighborhood school.

You may use the form on the right of the webpage to submit your application to : [email protected]

An IntraDistrict transfer may be valid through a grade span change when your child will enter a new school (middle school or high school)

The IntraDistrict transfer form may be submitted in person or online.

The IntraDistrict transfer request window is Dec. 1- Jan. 15

By mail, you will receive a letter telling you if the transfer was approved or denied.

FOR REQUESTS SUBMITTED AFTER JANUARY 15  Your transfer will be approved or denied based on space available however, you will NOT be placed on a waiting list.

Approved transfers can be revoked due to chronic non-attendance (>10% of school days), truancies (>30 minutes tardy or early release), or disciplinary issues.

Requests submitted after January 15 may not be considered until a minimum of 10 days after school begins and class loads are determined.

Conditions for Approval
  • Parent/guardian assumes responsibility for providing transportation.
  • Students must maintain attendance of 90% or better.
  • Any arrival after 30 minutes or early pick up of 30 minutes or more is considered a truancy by the state of California. Students with truancies may have their transfers revoked.
  • Students are expected to follow all class and school rules. Disciplinary issues such as suspension are grounds for revocation.
  • The transfer is granted for your child's current school. When your child changes schools at 5th or 8th grade, he/she will be assigned to their neighborhood school unless you apply for and receive a transfer.
